Movie Review – A Good Day to Die Hard

I was fully expecting A Good Day to Die Hard to be terrible. The last film, Live Free or Die Hard, was awful; none of the previous work of either director John Moore (Max Payne) or screenwriter Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) inspired confidence; and the trailers did nothing to convince me that the film had any chance … Continue reading Movie Review – A Good Day to Die Hard

Movie Review – Side Effects

This film is going to be one that’s a bit difficult to discuss. While I enjoyed the movie quite a bit there were a few issues I had with it and most of those issues are ones I can’t really talk about without getting into plot dynamics. With that said, I’m going to do my … Continue reading Movie Review – Side Effects

Movie Review – Warm Bodies

Ah, February. Finally we’re into the time of year where you can actually start hoping for good movies again. In fairness, this January wasn’t too terrible; yes, it did happen to contain possibly the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my life (seriously, if you missed my last review DO NOT seeMovie 43), but Gangster Squad and The … Continue reading Movie Review – Warm Bodies

Movie Review – Movie 43

One of Film Crit Hulk’s core philosophies is “NEVER HATE A MOVIE” and it’s a philosophy that I have tried to adopt. As Hulk recalls from a conversation with Quentin Tarantino, “There’s plenty of reasons to not to like a movie. But if you hate them? Meaning if let them bother you? Then they’ll do nothing but bother you. … Continue reading Movie Review – Movie 43

Movie Review – The Last Stand

I was not expecting much from this movie. It’s a January action movie and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first starring role since 2003’sTerminator 3: Rise of the Machines. All things considered there weren’t a lot of terribly compelling reasons to think this one would be good. I was pleasantly surprised, however, that the movie was actually quite … Continue reading Movie Review – The Last Stand

Movie Review – Gangster Squad

Remember that kid in high school? The one who wasn’t terribly bright, but had the best of intentions, was charming, and had a good sense of humor? The one who would get up to give a presentation before the class and really botch all the requirements of the assignment while still managing to be entertaining? … Continue reading Movie Review – Gangster Squad

Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2013

I still can’t get over just how good of a year 2012 was for movies. It seems unlikely that we’ll have another year like this for quite some time, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some films worth looking forward to in 2013. Here are the ten movies I am most excited for in … Continue reading Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2013

Top 10 (Actually 11) Movies of 2012

Wow! 2012 was an absolutely incredible year for movies, but not in the way I expected it to be. At the end of 2011 there were a lot of big movies I was looking forward to, but as it would turn out, almost all of them ended up being at least slightly disappointing. Instead, though, … Continue reading Top 10 (Actually 11) Movies of 2012

Top 5 Near Misses of 2012

First, I want to make it clear what the intent of this list is. This is not a “Bottom 5” list. This is not a list of movies I didn’t like, or necessarily thought were bad. At the same time, neither are these all movies that were good. This list has little to do with how much … Continue reading Top 5 Near Misses of 2012

Top 5 Games of 2012

Top 5 Games of 2012

Unlike last year, there weren’t a whole lot of games in 2012 that I was actively looking forward to. Because of this I ended up branching out a bit and trying some games I may not normally have spent the time or money on. The result is a top 5 list that is fairly diverse. … Continue reading Top 5 Games of 2012
