This review contains spoilers One of my major beefs with Star Wars: The Clone Wars was the way in which that series espoused a bizarre pro-war sentiment. For any of their flaws, it’s clear that the Star Wars prequels are about the failures of politics and organized religion – the entire point of which being that by … Continue reading STAR WARS REBELS Review – “Legends of the Lasat”
I apologize for the delay in posting this review. It seems Disney has decided to split this season into two separate volumes on Amazon, iTunes, etc. and seeing as I’m not inclined to buy this season at full price twice in a row, I reached out to Disney. They have since reduced the price of both Vol. 2 and … Continue reading STAR WARS REBELS Review – “The Protector of Concord Dawn”
This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens What is the Star Wars story about? That’s a simple question that lacks a simple answer. If you ask George Lucas – the creator of the series and the man who guided it over four decades, six films, and more than 100 episodes of television – he would … Continue reading Families, Generations, and the Shifting Narrative Focus of STAR WARS
This review contains spoilers. One of the most common complaints levied by fans against the first season of Star Wars Rebels was that it was too limited in scope, specifically in that it was set almost entirely on or around the planet of Lothal. This was never something that bothered me, and to be honest, I … Continue reading STAR WARS REBELS Review – “A Princess on Lothal”
Looking back through my reviews for the first half of this season, I realize now how many of them began with remarkably similar paragraphs. This was by no means a conscious choice on my part (and if I had realized I was doing this, I would have at least attempted to be more clever about it), but seven … Continue reading STAR WARS REBELS Mid-Second Season Trailer
I must begin this best-of-the-year list with the biggest of all disclaimers: I did not see half the movies I wanted to this year, and a lot of the ones I missed were in the annual awards season flurry where seemingly every “must see” film of the year comes out in the span of three … Continue reading David’s Top Ten Movies of 2015
A brief preamble regarding spoilers: I intend to review this movie in the same fashion I would review any movie; discussing the setup including basic premise and character motivations while doing my best to avoid spoiling any major turns, reveals, or resolutions. That said, knowing how shrouded in secrecy this whole thing is, those basic … Continue reading Movie Review – STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
This review contains spoilers. This has been a rough season for Star Wars Rebels. After the Season Two opener “The Siege of Lothal” set an impossibly high bar by being perhaps the third best Star Wars story ever, the show has been fumbling week after week with lackluster one-off episodes featuring uninspired and unearned character … Continue reading STAR WARS REBELS Review – “Legacy”
This review contains spoilers. I’m seriously considering giving up on these weekly Star Wars Rebels reviews. I know it’s bad form of me to spend a portion of what should be a critical analysis whining about the process of writing it, but once again we have another episode of Star Wars Rebels that has the … Continue reading STAR WARS REBELS Review – “The Future of the Force”
This review contains spoilers. I’ve been trying to figure out what is going on with Rebels this season. While the show hasn’t been exactly bad (except for that one episode) this season has had a noticeable step backwards in quality following the previous season. I’m not sure if there’s just extra padding because they got … Continue reading STAR WARS REBELS Review – “Stealth Strike”
